Getting better again.

Katie didn't feel very well when she woke up in the morning. She is usually a happy person who doesn't let anything get to her but she was starting to wonder if moving to Riverview was a good idea after all. She liked having a place of her own but she didn't have to move out of the town as well. "I knew nearly everyone there and I was happy."

But then she remembered; she didn't have much independence because she lived with her parents who wanted to know everything, her job wasn't going anywhere and then there was all the memories of her 4 year relationship and the way it ended...

Work was rather uneventful and a bit boring Katie had to admit. That is until the end of the day. "I've only been here a week and I've been promoted AGAIN?? I know I'm good but I didn't think I was that good" she said to her boss. "You wouldn't have been given it if we didn't think you deserved it" was her bosses reply. "Keep it up and you'll be editor in no time" Katie bounced out of the office and carried on bouncing all the way home.

A letter was waiting for her when she got home. After opening it she saw it was an invitation to Walter Grisbys party that evening. "How different could today and yesterday be?" Katie thought, excitably. Then she noticed the dress code- Formal Dress. Because she has just moved Katie didn't have a lot of clothes at the moment. At her parents house she had so many clothes they started to take over the spare room as well as her own!  Her mum had persuaded Katie to leave some behind so she could get them when she had enough space. After hunting out something she thought would be formal enough (the Grisby house was in a posh neighbourhood) Katie only just had time to quickly grab something to eat and and have a quick shower before the party started.

There were quite a few people already at the party when Katie arrived, some she knew, some she didn't. After talking to a few people she already knew, she decided to make some new friends. She mingled and chatted away for most of the night, ending up talking to George Dean. They seemed to click straight away and talked about so much for the rest of the night. The only down side was once again he was already taken. "I like George and I think we're going to be good friends" thought Katie as she listened to George chatting away. "But I want a boyfriend, not just another best friend. Are there any single men in Riverview at all?" But this time she wasn't sad at the thought and when she finally got home she fell into a happy sleep.

Sad, lonely day.

"That was only meant to be a five minute shower, how did I spend so long in there" Katie muttered crossly to herself as she rushed to get ready for work. "I was promoted yesterday and I'm late today. Great way to show I was right for the new job." Running into the building she ran round a corner and into her new boss. "No need to run, you're only a few minutes late." her boss smiled at a red faced Katie. "Get yourself sorted out and come and see me in my office. I've got something I want you to try to do for me." Katie scuttled into the nearest bathroom to clean up and then went to find her bosses office.  She emerged fifteen minutes later with a big smile on her face. Not surprising as she had just been asked to watch television for eight hours as work! "Why couldn't I ever get homework like this at school?" Katie wondered as she slipped behind her new desk, ready to start work.

As she was leaving work, Katie saw Angel across the road so she went over to say hello. They had a nice time talking last time and she thought he was a nice guy. She carried on thinking that for a while, right up until he mentioned his wife. "Oh poo." She thought, sadly. "He isn't wearing a ring so I thought my luck with men had changed." After Katie and Angel said their goodbyes, Katies phone rang. It was one of the people she met the night before at the Juice Bar. The phone call cheered her up at bit and also gave her a good idea for the next part of her book.

Seeing as the library was only a few minutes walk away, she decided to go straight there. Settling herself at one of the computer tables Katie started to type. "It will be so much easier to do this when I've got a computer at home" she said to herself, mainly because there was only a handful of people there with her. "If I carry on spending so much time in here I'll end up with no social life at all."  Katie got so involved in her writing she didn't notice the time passing and it was dark when she looked out the window again. She packed her things away and decided to walk home for a change. "At least this way I'm might get to talk to someone" she sadly said to herself.
